Brief Summary
The problem
How can we help people who commute for long time to work, school, or other destinations to not feel lonely and eliminate safety concerns?
The solution
A platform that connects commuters with each other, facilitating interactions, helping to alleviate boredom and enhancing safety compared to travelling alone.
The context
Many of our team members including myself take public transit to commute to school, the process is boring, tedious, and meaningless. We wanted this project to improve the transit commuting experience for us and millions of people like us by helping people connect with one another while taking transit

My role
- Conducted A Competitor Analysis, which successfully identified one Direct Competitor (SmartCommute.ca), and two Indirect Competitors (Uber, Facebook Communities), and Tested the ease of use of SmartCommute.ca, to better differentiate our design.
- Created an AS-IS User Journey Map, showing the current user experience and tasks which we sought to improve, as well as a TO-BE User Journey Map, showing the proposed user experience and tasks we want to achieve with our design.
- Conducted User Research by interviewing two participants matching our target demographics. Analysed 5 out of 10 interviews from our group and extracted insights of our user’s needs.
- Created UI Sketches, Task Flow Diagram, and combined them to create a Story Board.
